Streamers put up a goal bar widget (a fundraiser) to ask their viewers for help.
It helps raise money
Viewers give more happily when they understand what their money is for. Even if it is rent, a box of chocolates or a new webcam. Understanding the goal brings them a step closer to the streamer.
An end date creates urgency
A fundraiser can have an end date. That can be a great motivator, especially when the money goes towards some special content the audience cares about.
It creates a sense of community
Raising money together gives viewers a sense of community. They feel they are reaching a goal together and helping the streamer. That good feeling makes the community stronger.
You can adjust the amount collected by hand. That is handy if you accept tips through methods you cannot track automatically — a direct transfer to your bank card, for example.
The on-stream widget automatically recalculates how many days are left until the fundraiser ends.
The goal bar is highly customizable: you can control the position of the elements, their colors, transparency, shadows and outline.
